Can I get custom edges for quartz countertops?
Yes. Quartz countertops can be fabricated with a variety of edge profiles. During the design and fabrication process, G & G can discuss available edge options based on the quartz slab, countertop design and finished look you want.
Can quartzite countertops have custom edge profiles?
Yes. Natural quartzite can be fabricated with custom edge profiles, subject to the characteristics and requirements of the selected slab. The edge is part of the overall fabrication process and should be considered when planning the finished countertop.
What is the difference between an eased, bullnose and ogee edge?
An eased edge has a clean, lightly softened profile and works well with modern designs. A bullnose edge is rounded for a softer appearance. An ogee is a more decorative profile with a curved, detailed shape that can create a traditional or more formal look.
What is a waterfall countertop edge?
A waterfall edge continues the countertop material vertically down the side of an island or cabinet, creating a continuous appearance from the horizontal surface to the floor. It is a popular architectural detail for kitchen islands and requires careful fabrication and installation.
Does the countertop material affect which edge I can choose?
Yes. The material, slab characteristics, thickness, design and fabrication requirements can affect which edge profiles are appropriate. G & G can help you determine which options work with the specific quartz, quartzite, porcelain or natural stone selected for your project.
Does a custom countertop edge cost more?
Some edge profiles require more fabrication time and work than simpler profiles, so pricing can vary. The cost depends on the selected material, edge profile, countertop dimensions and fabrication requirements. G & G can discuss the appropriate edge and project pricing with you.
When do I choose my countertop edge?
The edge profile should be considered during the countertop design and fabrication process, before the countertop is fabricated. Choosing the edge early helps ensure the selected profile works with the material, design and finished installation.
